Question. How to fight.....
(1/1)
BMC_Thunderbird:
I haven't a clue how to battle or where to send my Pals. I have no problem (in Spans....) building up an army but when I send them to battle they are like Ice to a furnace and just die...... :-\
To send into battle, I would double click on Pals (selecting maximum) and then click onto the enemy that I want to fight and just watch them all die. ::)
Please help.

I'm really rusty and out of practice, but i often just send them to kill woodcutters, since are my priority target when raiding,... and also luring enemy army in their territory. For example, u get into their town and start raiding,... himself must face ur pals using more army than urs and that comes in handy for celt player when getting a good amount of space to forward attack.
Althought, u should aim for Bala's opinion and advice! xD

That's an interesting yet difficult question Mr Bird ... and tnx carlos for trusting that i can answer this question correctly ... pressure is up now :D.
I wish there would be a simple answer to ur question Mr Bird but obviously what u have to do with paladins depends on the situation. What Zurly said is true, even tho when raid in at first cut i like to kill goldvills of spain/3th civ guy. Killing woodies is most effective when raiding the celt. In late game when a cut is opened it is often most effective to not raid in with the entire paladin army. If the enemies closes down the cut, they can just kill the inside paladins and they won't die cus they will often have 10k+ of all resources. Wise ppl like BMC_Avater used to say "in michi not killing or raiding is important but pushing and winning space is." Losing control over a newly opened cut is an mistake that is often made. In very late game killing woodies then again is very good cus when the celt runs out of wood it is mostly gg.
When there is no excess to enemy territory you should try to look for fights you can win. Siege Onagers are very weak vs paladins ! Ur 3th civ guy and celt will be very thankful if u kill the enemy SO. If the SO kill ur pals before they reach 'm try spread formation. Also rams, cannons and trebs are things u could try raid with pals. Then again u also wanna protect ally so/rams/cannons/trebs. For fighting vs other paladins u might use the rule "only fight when u can win" ... dont attack 20 pals with 5 pals ... thats useless. Always save army till u have a army that is big enough to win a battle. Don't stress when the opponent has some pals near ur side ... ur allies SO/towers/castles will mostly just kill 'm.
Sometimes pals are hardly any usefull, for instance in a sara game where on all fronts there are tons on SO/scorps/marmeluks/towers. In that case just get more trade and mass towers/rams/cannons/trebs. Whenever a chance opens somewhere switch back to paladins to for instance kill SO at some cut to allow ur Celts rams to kill the towers ... it's all about teamwork ;).
gl hf man, hope this was useful, else don't hesitate to ask again ;).

Thanks for replies guys.
This is the "other" Michi type. The 45 min so called "noob" ones... I suppose its a different game altogether where castles and excellent defences are already set up before cut. All people seems to do is just build up their army with their millions of trade carts Grrrr and then just "Kami-Kazi" each other for an hour before one backs down (normally on my side) calls other players a noob (me sob sob) and quits.
Some players do it well and some like me just build up army and die, and die oh and die.
Rush and 45 are 2 different games and perhaps a dangerous area for the likes of me to play in?
P.S. Pals was just an example, I can quite easily do this with any civ or army...... ::)
